Plugged In An electrical cord lies there on the floor, with an outlet on a nearby wall. We all know that it’s necessary to plug the cord into the outlet for anything to happen. This example of the importance of getting “plugged in” is something we think about a lot here at Five Forks. Every month we have individuals and families begin attending services, and we realize just how important it is to make sure they feel welcomed into our church family…connected…plugged in. Toward that end, we have two important events coming up that we believe can help make this happen. The first is a CONNECTION TIME event where the pastors host a get-together with all of those who have recently started attending services at Five Forks. We have one of these events coming up on Sunday morning, October 24th. If you have started attending Five Forks in 2021 and have yet to attend one of these events (our last one was held in May), please contact Pastor Shaun (Shaun@ffbic.org) and let him know you plan on attending. It will begin around 11:00 A.M. and we’ll be meeting in the lower level where the café tables are set up near the Main Entrance. This event provides the pastors an opportunity to get to know you, and for you to get to know each of them.
The second event is a CONNECT CLASS that will meet the following three Sundays at the same time (11:00 A.M.) and same location. We believe those who attend this 3-week class will come away with a good understanding of what is happening here at Five Forks Church. Here is how this class is broken down: October 31st – Who We Are/What We Believe. (What are the core values of the Brethren in Christ denomination and what do we emphasize here at Five Forks?) Led by Pastor Bill November 7th – How We Function (What is the role of the pastors, our governing board, our committees, etc.) Led by Steve Mitchell. November 14th – Getting Plugged In (What opportunities exist for our newcomers to be able to join us in serving each other, our community, and Jesus.) Led by Chris Bumbaugh Again, if you have started attending Five Forks recently and have not yet been to either of these events – CONNECTION TIME or CONNECT CLASS – please contact Pastor Shaun so we can reserve a spot for you at either or both of these events!
