Over the Rainbow – Building On Last Year’s Event A huge THANK YOU to all who serve in Student Ministry or Children’s Ministry here at FFC. You play such an important role in the lives of our children! In order to help support you, every year the Church Board offers a training event that revolves around keeping our children safe, and last year’s event was led by Jessica Crouse from Over the Rainbow Advocacy Center in Chambersburg. The training was exceptional, so much so that we immediately scheduled to have OTR back for this year’s training event. It will be taking place on Sunday, September 17 starting at 11:15 A.M. and should conclude no later than 1:30 P.M. This year’s topic is TECH SMART, and here’s a brief overview, from OTR: “Children are growing up in a world vastly different than the world of our generation. Technology is everywhere and influences our children on a daily basis. In fact, you can scan the news on any given day and find a story detailing one of the many ways technology negatively impacts a child’s life. Tech Smart builds awareness of the risk of Internet-based technology and offers adult resources for prevention. The training is designed to educate parents, professionals that work with children, and our community about technology risks to children including predators, cyberbullying, sexting, and Internet-based social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and more.” Once again we’ll be meeting in the Children’s Wing, taking a short break in the midst of the session in order to head to the gym to pick up a light lunch. Please reserve your seat by contacting Kim Helman: kim@ffbic.org or calling 717-762-2991 by Friday, September 8th. Everyone who serves in Student or Children’s Ministry is strongly encouraged to attend!
