Each year the Five Forks youth group participates in a week long, local summer service project, called the Chambersburg Project.  This project is open to ALL teens that have completed 7th – 12th grade during the 2014-2015 academic school year.  This years project will be held the week of July 12th – 17th.  D uring the work camp, youth from area churches are divided into work crews. The teen work crews renovate and repair homes for residents of Franklin County who are unable to make the repairs themselves due to physical limitations or financial circumstances. This year, the youth will spend the week at the Chambersburg Career Magnet School (2463 Loop Rd Chambersburg, PA 17202), sleeping overnight in supervised “dorms.”         They will be served full breakfast and dinner daily.         Packed lunches and snacks will also be provided. The campers will work during the day throughout Franklin County and participate in an evening program featuring games, activities, worship and teaching sessions.  This year’s cost for youth is $200. However, this amount can be reduced to $150 for all Five Forks teens by completing a Five Forks Short Term Missions Application. (This offer is for Five Forks teens only.) Please do not let finances prevent you from serving, additional support is available. Talk to Pastor Shaun for more information.  Registration packets can be picked up at youth group or completed online at www.chambersburgproject.org.
The Chambersburg Project is a great opportunity for all teens seeking to be obedient to Christ’s call for His followers to serve people in need. It is a chance to learn about the needs in our local community and to experience first-hand hurting people. It is also an important stepping stone for teens who may consider future youth mission trips with the Five Forks youth group. In recent years, we have been to New York City, New Mexico, Jamaica and Belize.       Chambersburg Project helps to prepare teens for these other trips.
