Second is Really First
In the competitive world of sports, you may have seen printed on a T-shirt, or otherwise heard the phrase, “Second is the first loser”. For example, the legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna is credited for the most famous international variation of the quote. During a 1990 interview, following a controversial collision with his rival Alain Prost, Senna famously stated:
“Being second is to be the first of the ones who lose.”
Well, while second place may very well be the highest-ranked losing position in our culture, as a Jesus follower we are reminded that first place always belongs to the One who turned the world upside down. Join us this week as Pastor Ray shares the first sermon of being “Energized for Action” as he speaks of “The Art of Being 2nd”. We are looking forward to seeing you Sunday!
Just a reminder that the 2026 Annual Congregational Meeting will be held on Sunday, January 18th at 11:00 a.m. in the Auditorium. However, that Sunday, there will only be one blended service at 9:45. Adult Sunday school classes that normally meet at 9:30 are encouraged to meet from 8:30 to 9:30 that day, with the intent that those folks could attend both the 9:45 service and the Congregational Meeting at 11:00. Children’s Sunday school will meet at the normal time during the 9:45 service. Childcare will be provided for the entire meeting. It is our hope and desire that as many of our Church Family will be able to attend.
