Circulating around the internet is a classic gag that claims that the only two items one needs to fix anything are WD-40 and duct tape. The adage goes like this: If it moves and it’s not supposed to, then use duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it is supposed to, then use WD-40. Simple, right? Alternatively, a pretty common response to change being adopted in a collective environment of people is “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Well, when Jesus came onto the scene in ancient Israel, many of his teachings challenged the old, so called “unbroken” ways of doing things. Jesus’ new ways were many times considered scandalous by the religious elites. And His new ways didn’t need duct tape or WD-40.
