“I’m hungry.”
In many of our homes, when we hear this plea, we simply direct the person to the pantry or the fridge; where the hungry person will find a plethora of options to choose from to satisfy their hunger pangs. But sadly, that is not the case in every home. Some are going to bed hungry and waking up hungry.
We want to provide an opportunity to alleviate this problem in some homes in our community. So:
We are asking those in our church family to donate non-perishable food items for our Thanksgiving Food Drive. This would include items such as canned fruit and vegetables, cereal, and pasta. We will be setting aside a section in the Auditorium Foyer to display the food as it accumulates over a 4-week period.
Donations can be brought to the church, including on Sundays, (November 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th) leading up to Thanksgiving.
On the morning of the 24th, we will take time to recognize this season of giving – and thanksgiving – giving thanks to God for His many blessings throughout this past year. After the service, those who serve on the Deacon Board will organize and prepare to distribute the donated food to individuals or families from within our church and community who could use a little help at this time of year.
Would you please consider donating some of the items listed above? If so, please bring these items to the church at your convenience anytime between Sunday, November 3 – November 24.
Thank you for participating in this opportunity to “feed the hungry.”
