Support for Ukraine

This past week the Finance Committee voted to send support in the amount of $15,000 to help with relief efforts for those in and around Ukraine.  This money will come from our Disaster Relief Fund which was established years ago in order to provide financial support when various types of disasters strike around the globe.

$10,000 will go to Samaritan’s Purse, which has established an Emergency Field Hospital on the outskirts of Lviv in western Ukraine.  The initial patients arrived this past Monday (March 14).  The field hospital has two operating rooms, with a capacity for 14 major surgeries or 30 minor surgeries per day.  There are nearly 60 inpatient beds.  The emergency room can handle 100 patients per day.  The facility also has a pharmacy and its own water and sanitation system.

Samaritan’s Purse has a partner network of 3,200 churches inside Ukraine and was in the process of distributing 600,000 Operation Christmas Child gift-filled shoeboxes when the conflict erupted.

$5,000 will go to Mission Eurasia which was founded in Ukraine and has had an active presence there for decades.  They are equipped to provide meal packs for those in Ukraine who find themselves homeless.  Working with hundreds of churches in Ukraine and neighboring countries, Mission Eurasia is mobilizing Christians on the ground to aid their communities at this difficult time.  Every $50 that is received will feed a family of five for a week.

It is your contributions to Five Forks Church that make this support possible.  If you would like to provide additional support, you can make your check out to Five Forks Church, and simply write “Ukraine” on the memo line.  If you would like to make a contribution online, you can go to our website (ffbic.org) and then go to Give/Online Giving/Please Select/Ukraine.

Mission Eurasia has established the Ukraine Crisis Prayer Initiative that will provide time-sensitive daily requests for Ukraine.  To sign up, go HERE.
