Last Tuesday evening the Church Board met for their monthly meeting with one topic of discussion being COVID. For nearly two years now the Board has been looking for our church to respond to the challenges presented by this ongoing pandemic in a way that would honor Jesus. The Board continues to pray for our church family, for our community, and for wisdom moving forward. The Board realizes that once again we find ourselves at a time when the virus is quite active; it seems as if virtually every day the pastors are made aware of someone new in our church family testing positive for the virus. And so with the rise in positive cases and hospitalizations in the area, the Board would like to share the following with our congregation: First, The Board would like to encourage everyone to take any symptoms, even minor symptoms, seriously for your own well-being and for the well-being of others. Anyone experiencing symptoms should remain at home, and the staff and Board will continue to look for ways to provide online resources that will help us all stay connected. See one new opportunity listed below.* Second, the Board noted that there has been a resurgence in the wearing of masks when we gather for services and events. While masks have been and continue to be optional in the services, we support this decision as one of several precautionary steps that people are able to take. Third, the Board is in agreement that we will continue holding In-Person services with no restrictions in regard to seating (every other row for instance). Finally, aware of the fact that there are many different views when it comes to an appropriate response to COVID, the Board would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to you, the Five Forks Church, for your thoughts, prayers, and encouragement over these past two years. It has been challenging at times, but as a Board, we continue to place our hope in Jesus. And so… “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:23) Continue to pray for us as we continue to pray for you! Your Church Board Harvey Payne (Chair), Jean Showalter (Co-Chair), Brian Bitner, Chris Bumbaugh, Darwin Chamberlin (Deacon representative), Peggy Dawson, Brian Egolf, Sandy Gray, Ed Herald, Ron Strite (Treasurer) * If you have not already done so, please go HERE to join the BibleProject Study Group where everyone in our church family is invited to watch a short video, and then join in (or simply follow along) with a week-long discussion of the Biblical text and topic addressed in the video. This is just one way that many people in our church family are able to stay connected to one another.
