Thanksgiving Service

Coming Together and Giving Thanks
By Pastor Bill
For me, the month of November has always pointed to Thanksgiving Day.   Always on a Thursday, always gathering with family and sometimes extended family for a meal (or two).  Always football.  And when we were kids, it meant a 5 day break from school.
While much has remained the same through the years, I think that as we grow older we also grow more thoughtful and reflective about the many ways that God has graciously provided for us.    This upcoming holiday gives us an opportunity to do two things:
  • First, express our gratitude to God for blessing and providing for us.
We will do this by coming together as a congregation on Sunday evening – November 22nd – for a special Thanksgiving Service where we acknowledge and praise God for His goodness to us.   This service will take place in the Auditorium starting at 6:30 P.M.
  • Second, in light of how God has provided for us, we, in turn, look for ways to bless others by providing for them.
We will look to do this by bringing to the church non-perishable food items that will be shared with others in our church family.   Items including (but limited to) fruit, vegetables, pasta, and cereal can be brought to the church on any of the first four Sundays in November(1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd).    Please see any of the Pastors if you need one of them to carry your food from your vehicle into the church.  Food may also be dropped off at the church office between 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. on any weekday leading up to the 22nd
In light of all of this, please do two things:  Make sure to join us on the evening of the 22nd by marking your calendar or datebook.  There is much to be thankful for!    And then in the coming weeks purchase and bring to the church non-perishable food items that can then be shared with others in our church family!
“Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation
O my soul praise Him for He is thy health and salvation
All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near
Join us in glad adoration!”
