Building Bigger Barns

For the past seven weeks, Pastor Shaun has helped us to identify different vices or “deadly sins” that could prove to be fatal for those of us who desire to follow Jesus.  This weekend we come to the final message in this series called FATAL, and the deadly sin we’ll be looking at is Greed.
As your Pastors, we want you to know we have personally witnessed incredible acts of generosity on the part of many in our church family.  When needs arise, we have seen our congregation step up and answer those needs time and time again.  Still, it’s good to be challenged when it comes to our wealth and our possessions, and so we’ll invite Jesus to teach us in the same way that He taught His disciples 2000 years ago.  Our Scripture passage is found in Luke’s gospel, chapter 12:13-21, where Jesus speaks of a man who has such an abundance of wealth that he doesn’t know what to do with it all.  He decides that the answer is to simply build bigger barns to hold all that he possesses.  Together we’ll look at what Jesus says next, and why.
We are looking forward to gathering with you this weekend and remember, we are having an outdoor Service on Saturday afternoon at the ballfield across the road from the church.  Here are a few things to keep in mind if you are planning to attend:
  • The service begins at 4:00 P.M.
  • Please bring a lawn chair and perhaps a blanket as we will be gathering in the outfield grass.  They are calling for a high temperature in the mid-60’s.
  • Please maintain 6 feet of distance between yourself and others that you have not been around.
  • There are approximately 20 parking spots along the outfield fence; please leave these spaces for those who may wish to attend but remain in their vehicles.
  • We will have a box available at the Center Field entrance where offerings can be placed.
  • We will have handouts available with lyrics to the songs that we will be singing (similar to what we have done at the Easter Sunrise Service).
We will also be having our regular services on Sunday morning at 8:00 and 10:30.  Both services will also be live-streamed.
Go HERE five minutes before the start of either service on Sunday morning to view the live stream.

Finally, just a reminder of what has become our standard protocol for our Sunday Services:
  • If you find yourself in a high-risk category, it would be wise to view the service via the live stream.
  • Please remain at home if you do not feel well or if you have been around someone who has not been well, and again, be sure to join us by viewing the live stream.
  • We will continue to ask that everyone (except for health reasons) wear a mask as you enter and as you leave.
  • Please continue to practice physical distancing at all times.
  • Even as we are seated in every other row, please go out of your way to establish a generous amount of distance between yourself and others when choosing your seat. The room is large enough for us to spread out quite a bit.
  • At the same time, please engage in conversations with those around you!
  • When using the restroom, please wash your hands thoroughly. Please continue to make use of the hand sanitizer that we have in the foyer and in the Auditorium.
Thank you, and we’re looking forward to worshipping Jesus with you this weekend!
