The Essential Vice, the Utmost Evil

“The Essential Vice, the Utmost Evil”
Our sermon series is called Fatal, and over the course of September and October, Pastor Shaun is having us look at eight deadly sins.
The topic of this Sunday’s message is Pride.  C.S Lewis once wrote that “…the essential vice, the utmost evil is pride.  Unchastity, anger, greed, drunkenness and all that, are mere fleabites in comparison.”
This is one message that we don’t want to miss, whether it be in person or via the live stream.  Shaun will talk about what pride is, giving us five examples that will speak to all of us, and then we’ll look at what we can do about it.
At the conclusion of both services, we’ll break bread and drink from the cup, observing Communion.  We hope to see you this Sunday, but if you can’t be here please be sure to catch one or both of the services as we live stream at 8:00 and again at 10:30.  If you are viewing the Live Stream, be sure to have the Communion elements on hand so that you’ll be able to participate with us.
Go HERE five minutes prior to either service to view the live stream.
Go HERE for an outline for this week’s message.
We’ll also be singing to God and about God as we gather; here are the songs for Sunday:
Amazing Grace
Sing the Wondrous Love of Jesus
It Is Well with My Soul
When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
All Things New
For the Beauty of the Earth
Another in the Fire
Finally, just a reminder of what has become our standard protocol:
  • If you find yourself in a high-risk category, it would be wise to view the service via the live stream.
  • Please remain at home if you do not feel well or if you have been around someone who has not been well, and again, be sure to join us by viewing the live stream.
  • We will continue to ask that everyone (except for health reasons) wear a mask as you enter and as you leave.
  • Please continue to practice physical distancing at all times.
  • Even as we are seated in every other row, please go out of your way to establish a generous amount of distance between yourself and others when choosing your seat. The room is large enough for us to spread out quite a bit.
  • At the same time, please engage in conversations with those around you!
  • When using the restroom, please wash your hands thoroughly. Please continue to make use of the hand sanitizer that we have in the foyer and in the Auditorium.
Thank you, and we’re looking forward to worshipping Jesus with you this Sunday!
