What Just Happened There?
David and over 30,000 Israelites are bringing the Ark of the Covenant to the capital city of Jerusalem. It’s been placed on an ox cart, and being guided along the way by two brothers, Uzzah and Ahio. All along the way, there is singing and dancing, a great celebration taking place by all who are able to be a part of this huge event.
Suddenly the oxen stumbled. Uzzah reached out and steadied the ark in order to keep it from sliding off the cart. And we say, “Way to be on your toes, Uzzah! Good job!”
“The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act; therefore God struck him down and he died there beside the ark of God.” II Samuel 6:7
And we ask, “What just happened there?”
This Sunday we’ll be talking about this event and other significant events found in the 6th chapter of II Samuel as we continue our sermon series called Make or Break. This week’s theme is The Presence of God.
We’re looking forward to seeing you this Sunday, but if you can’t make it in person, please be sure to catch the service as we live stream at 8:00 and again at 10:30.
Go HERE 5 minutes prior to either service to view the live stream.
Go HERE for an outline for this week’s message.
We’ll also be singing to God and about God as we gather; here are the songs for Sunday:
I Know Whom I Have Believed
Sing the Wondrous Love of Jesus
A Wonderful Savior
Death Was Arrested
God With Us
Finally, just a reminder of what has become our standard protocol:
If you find yourself in a high-risk category, it would be wise to view the service via the live stream.
Please remain at home if you do not feel well or if you have been around someone who has not been well, and again, be sure to join us by viewing the live stream.
We will continue to ask that everyone (except for health reasons) wear a mask as you enter and as you leave.
Please continue to practice physical distancing at all times.
Even as we are seated in every other row, please go out of your way to establish a generous amount of distance between yourself and others when choosing your seat. The room is large enough for us to spread out quite a bit.
At the same time, please engage in conversations with those around you!
When using the restroom, please wash your hands thoroughly. Please continue to make use of the hand sanitizer that we have in the foyer and in the Auditorium.
