Report from Your Church Board – Resuming Services and Other Items of Interest
Good Wednesday afternoon Five Forks Church! The Church Board held their monthly meeting last evening and I’m sure the first question on everybody’s mind is “Where do things stand on the topic of resuming services?”
The Board has made the decision to resume in-person services on the first Sunday that Franklin County moves into the green phase. While it has not yet been confirmed, we believe that we will be moving into the green phase a week from this Friday, which means that the tentative date for us to resume services would be a week from this Sunday, June 21st. This would be both Father’s Day, and the first week of Pastor Shaun’s sermon series called What’s In a Name?
This will be a “soft opening”, which means that this will be a gradual process. At first, there will be no Sunday school for adults or children, no café or nursery. These things will be reintroduced over time, but for now, we will begin by offering two Sunday morning services: A traditional service at 8:00 and a modern service at 10:30.
There will be more information coming out once it has been confirmed that we will be moving into the green phase. We are anticipating that the announcement will be made this Friday, so we hope to be providing more details early next week leading up to this much-anticipated gathering!
Other Items of Interest
PAINTING THE BACK STAGE WALL: Because of the increased importance of the live stream, the Board approved the painting of the back stage wall of the Auditorium a dark, flat color that will improve the visual quality of the stream. The number of people viewing has risen significantly over these past 3 months. Once services resume, we are aware of numerous people who will continue to view online due to falling into a high-risk category. Taking this step has been discussed for a number of years, and we hope to have this project completed over the course of the next week or two.
DISCUSSION ON GUIDELINES: The Board also took time to discuss the guidelines that will need to be put in place as we resume opening up the church. The staff has been working together to come up with a document that will provide guidance when it comes to Sunday morning gatherings, as well as other gatherings for groups at the church throughout the week.
As always, if you have any questions or are interested in further details on any of the discussions listed above, please feel free to contact Pastor Bill or Pastor Shaun.
