Report from Annual Council

This past Tuesday evening we held our 68th Annual Council, with 147 in attendance.  There was a good and profitable discussion on various issues, and here are the results of some of the business that was conducted:

  • All appointments for Deacon Board, Grounds and Maintenance Committee and Finance Committee were confirmed.
  • The motion to set pastoral wages consistent with the figures in the 2020 Spending Plan passed.
  • The 2020 Spending Plan passed.

There is still unfinished business, however, as the Congregational Expression for Pastor Ray and the Church Board election has just begun and will run until Sunday, February 9th.  Please check your church mailbox for ballots/forms that will allow you to participate and have your voice be heard.  A digital form for the Congregational Expression has also been emailed to those in our congregation.

Finally, it is good for us on staff to hear how many of you have been encouraged by the turnout at last Friday’s Prayer Hour.  We want to be a church that prays together, and we must continue to do this.  Many of you have also expressed how encouraged you were by the turnout on Tuesday evening, indicating that people love and care about this church and that we are all sincere in our desire to hear and respond to God’s guidance and direction.

Thank you for your continued prayers and participation as the Lord leads us forward!

Delegates Needed for Regional Conference

Just as we meet every year in late January for our Annual Council meeting, all 39 Brethren in Christ congregations that are in the Allegheny Conference meet every year in early April to conduct the business of the conference.  This year, we will be meeting at the Hollowell BIC church, just outside of Waynesboro, on Saturday, April 4th starting at 9:00 A.M. and going into the mid-afternoon.

We would like to talk with any of you who might be interested in representing Five Forks as a delegate.  We can answer any questions you may have, and for those interested, you will be provided with a full agenda well in advance so that you are aware of any issues and elections.  Please contact or see any of the Pastors (Bill, Ray or Shaun) if you have any questions or have an interest in serving as a Conference Delegate this year.
