Church Board Report to the Congregation – June 2019

The Church Board’s monthly meeting took place on Tuesday evening, June 11th.  Here is a summary report from the June Board meeting.

Pastor Bill reported that five months into 2019, our average Sunday morning attendance of 681 is exactly the same as it was five months into 2018.  Contributions in May were up slightly over contributions in May 2018.

Kenton reported that a new floor will soon be laid in the Student Ministry Center, located in the lower level beneath the gym.

The Board approved for Five Forks to be the official “sending church” for Caleb and Danae Nowell, who will be involved in a church plant in Hagerstown, MD.  We will receive and disburse to them contributions that are made on their behalf.

The Board continued working on and refining the Harassment Policy that we will look to implement within the next few months.

As the Board begins the process of discerning who the Lord has to serve and lead in the area of Children’s Ministry, the Board discussed the feedback received from those who volunteer and serve in this area.  A job description will be finalized in June and this job opening will be shared throughout several BIC conferences, on social media, and on  At this point, the Board is in favor of advertising the position as a “Director of Children’s Ministry.”  Several names were discussed for potentially serving on the search committee and these individuals will be contacted in order to gauge their interest in serving.
