A Gnawing Question (or two)

Our sermon series is called Doubletake, and Pastor Bill has us looking at some of Jesus’ teachings which call for a closer look.
This week we read about at a man who seemingly has it all together.   Young.  Rich.  A ruler.  Obedient to God since he was a boy.   And yet he approaches Jesus and asks this question: “What must I do to inherit eternal life.”
Jesus’ answer and the man’s response leads the disciples to ask: “Who then can be saved?”
We’ll look to see if we can’t discover the answers to these two questions this Sunday in the Auditorium.   Bill’s message is titled Asked and Answered and our Scripture text is found in Mark 10:17-27.
This Sunday in the Chapel we continue Pastor Ray’s 4-week sermon series called A Man for All Seasons.   That man of course, is Jesus, and Ray is relating the 4 climate seasons to the different spiritual seasons we find ourselves in. So far we’ve seen that:
Winter is a time of waiting and pruning (Week 1).
Spring is a time of renewal and planting (Week 2).
This Sunday we’ll consider a Summer time of the Heart. We’ll see that summer living is not hurried, not worried, and overflows with fruit. Ray’s message is titled Come Join the Party and our Scripture text is Zechariah 8.
