Like Eating Hard Candy

This Sunday Pastor Bill begins a 5-week sermon series in the Auditorium. It’s called Doubletake, and we’ll be looking at some of Jesus’ harder teachings; things that He said that cause us to stop in our tracks and take a closer look.
This series is going to be like eating a piece of hard candy as opposed to chocolate. You take a piece of chocolate and pop it into your mouth and it immediately begins to melt. In less than a minute it’s gone. Not so with a piece of hard candy. You have to work it, moving it from one side of your mouth to the other. Starting this Sunday we’re going to have to work the 5 passages we’ll be looking at in order to understand and receive what Jesus is really saying to us.
Week One: “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters – yes, even his own life – he cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:26)
Pastor Brian will wrap up his sermon series – A Mighty Fortress – in the Chapel this Sunday at 11:00. His message is titled To the Glory of God Alone and our Scripture text is Romans 12:1-2.
It is our desire to boast in Christ and what He has done for us. We want to live out our salvation in Christ for the glory of God alone. Brian will be challenging us to consider these questions:
How can we understand the glory of God?
How can we respond to the glory of God?
How do I live a life of worship?
