Without Blemish or Defect

This week in the Auditorium – where Pastor Bill is having us track The Story of the Lamb – we’ll start in Exodus 12, where every firstborn Hebrew male is sitting at the table looking at a dead lamb lying there. Knowing the only reason he isn’t dead is because the lamb is.
We’ll then move to Leviticus 4 and read how and why the lambs that are being sacrificed for sin must be perfect, without blemish or defect.
We’ll finish up with Isaiah 53, where the lamb is said to be a man (!) that voluntarily submits to a violent death.
This Sunday in the chapel Pastor Brian will conclude “Yes I Know”, his sermon series on 1 John.  The passage under consideration will be from the last chapter of 1 John chapter 5.  If you choose to read up in advance – which is always recommended – focus on verses 1-5.  You may want to read over the entire chapter, as we’ll also look at some other verses, like verses 10-12 and verse 14.
What we’re after this week is to gain some insight into living “The Life of Victory.”  As an old hymn says, “Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.”  What is it then that informs our faith so we can have that kind of victorious living?  We’ll be reminded of that, plus some other good truths we can know with certainty.  We want to be able to say with confidence, “Yes, I know!”
