Are you familiar with PROJECT BIG LOVE? Project Big Love is an OUTREACH EVENT to families held here in Franklin County. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, July 29th at the Mont Alto Fairground.
Project Big Love’s goals include:
2 bags of groceries to every adult that comes
A pair of sneakers to 1000-1500 kids that need them
A backpack filled with required school supplies to 1000-1500 children
There is also a PRAYER TENT.
And this is where YOU might come in. The organizers of PROJECT BIG LOVE have contacted our church to see if someone from our congregation would sense a call to serve as the TEAM LEADER for the Prayer Tent Ministry.
This would be no small undertaking. There will be a number of leadership meetings to attend prior to the event. It will mean recruiting a team of volunteers from our church to serve at the prayer tent that day, and there will be 3 or 4 meetings for the volunteers to attend as well. There is an expectation of active follow-up for anyone who makes a commitment to Jesus at the Prayer Tent that day.
At the same time, as the Church Board is looking to define and refine our purpose as a church, one thing that we recognize is that through the years Five Forks has been active in reaching out into our community. And we believe it is important that we continue to do so.
This outreach event could be a wonderful opportunity for our church to be a friend to the community, but we need to see if God has raised someone up from among our congregation to take this on. If you sense that God may be calling you to be a part of this leadership team, please contact Pastor Ray (who oversees our outreach ministries) or Pastor Bill. The two of them will then meet with you to discuss this further. Please make contact within the next 5 days (by May 30th) so that Project Big Love can plan accordingly.
