Joseph’s brothers have stripped him down and thrown him into a dry cistern. He cries out in distress, pleading for his life and is met with silence. From his brothers (who have gone off to eat) and from God. But it did not mean that God was absent.
This Sunday Pastor Bill begins a 4-week series called Life Happens. A lot happened in the life of Joseph, just as a lot has happened and continues to happen in our lives. How will we respond when unexpected circumstances come our way? How will we respond when God goes silent? Bill’s message is titled Silence is Not Absence and we will be looking closely at Genesis 37 where the top is blown off of what appears to be a solid, stable family. And we’ll look for God to speak to us about our current circumstances and show us how He sometimes works.
Pastor Ray will be in the Chapel during the month of February, bringing the 4-week Counter Culture series to those who gather there for the 11:00 service. His message for this Sunday is called The Disturbing Presence of Jesus. Our Scripture text will be found in Acts 4:1-22.
The Church will be receiving Communion at the conclusion of the 4 services.
