Back to the Mount

We have set aside over 20 weeks this year to learn from Jesus as we study The Sermon on the Mount.  This series is titled Whoever Hears These Words, and in His sermon – found in Matthew chapters 5, 6 and 7, Jesus is making clear what it means to follow Him.
Earlier this year (February and March) we heard the words of Jesus found in Matthew 5.   On numerous occasions Jesus began addressing a topic with these words:  “You have heard that it was said…”  He would then refer to a familiar law or teaching from the Old Testament.   Then Jesus would go on to say, “But I tell you…”   And He would call on His followers to learn and discover what is really at the heart of God’s commands when it comes to issues such as anger, lust, integrity and forgiveness.
This Sunday we will begin to hear the words of Jesus as found in Matthew chapter 6.   Pastors Ray (Auditorium) and Brian (Chapel) get Part II of this series started which will take us through the months of June and July.  The message is titled Why Am I Doing This?  Jesus will have us examine our motives when it comes to doing good things.  Read Matthew 6:1-4 prior to our gathering on Sunday morning!

We will be observing Communion at the conclusion of all four of our Sunday morning services.
