Isn’t The Bible Outdated?

Isn’t the Bible outdated? Aren’t the rules and ideas mostly irrelevant in our modern world? Isn’t this book written for people who lived a long time ago and it no longer applies to us today?
One person asked it this way, “How can an educated, intelligent, 21st Century person who believes in science and critical thinking and is opposed to ancient practices like slavery or patriarchy take the Bible seriously as the final authority for our beliefs and behavior today?
Well, that’s a good question. Good Question is the name of the sermon series that Pastor Shaun begins in the Auditorium this Sunday. We’ll be looking at the Bible and Shaun will be talking about how we can read Scriptures thoughtfully.
This Sunday in the Chapel Brian begins his August series called I Know A Guy Named Noah. Brian will show us the longing we have to be the master of our own destiny. Followed by a rapid descent into evil and eventually a disdain for the value of human life.   We’ll look at Noah’s role in the midst of this, and how some of the people eventually began to call upon the name of the Lord.  Brian’s message for this Sunday is called Noah: The Situation.
